Intentional decisions heading into Thanksgiving.

Today’s idea

The end of the year slows down — and that’s actually a gift if you use it well. Most people drift into the holidays on autopilot. They eat whatever’s in front of them, say yes to every invite, spend without thinking, and tell themselves they’ll “get serious” again in January.

The problem is, January-you has to deal with all of December-you’s decisions. Energy, finances, health, business — you either arrive in the new year with momentum or with regret.

Intentionality is the difference. Not perfection. Not a strict, miserable plan. Just a few clear choices you make ahead of time.

As you head into Thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays, ask yourself:

  • What do I want to be true about my health by January?
  • What do I want to be true about my relationships by January?
  • What do I want to be true about my business by January?

Once you have those answers, pick one or two simple, realistic commitments for each area. Maybe it’s a number of walks per week, a spending boundary, or a minimum number of real estate conversations you’ll have before the year ends.

You don’t have to control everything about the holidays. You just need a few intentional decisions that keep you connected to who you want to be on the other side of them.

Use the slowdown to your advantage. Let this season set you up for 2026 instead of setting you back.
